Project 52, Week #8

Blackberry #2 eating an apple by himself, with his (now) 5 teeth πŸ™‚

Blackberry #1 eating a Dobos cake at a name day celebration. He is stitting next to his Brother-in-law πŸ™‚ (Little Brother of his wife).

A name day is a tradition in many countries in Europe that consists of celebrating the day of the year associated with one’s given name.

Name days (in Hungarian: nΓ©vnap) in Hungary are very popular, often as much as a person’s actual birthdate. A woman is typically given flowers on her name day by acquaintances, including in the workplace. A bottle of alcohol is a common gift for men on their name day. Children frequently bring sweets to school to celebrate their name days. Name days are more often celebrated than birthdays in workplaces, presumably because it is simpler to know the date since most calendars contain a list of name days.

Do you celebrate name days?

My Knight in Shining Armour :)

Well Happy Valentines Day to everyone celebrating! Today is also Carnival day for Blackberry #1 at pre-school.

Carnival Day is one of the most anticipated days of the year πŸ™‚

I made muffins for the occasion. Joghurt muffins :

At least I didn’t burn them πŸ™‚ They did grow some funky tumors. But after I removed them they finally looked presentable.

BB1 was a knight πŸ™‚

Here is a photo of him and his wife, who dressed up as a belly dancer:

Hard to believe that they were born only 3 days apart, BB1 being older πŸ™‚ Girls sure do mature faster….

The costumes were really great: 3 tigers, lots of soccer players, 2 snowflakes, a Grape, 2 knights πŸ™‚ , And ofcourse princesses.

The lovely Evangelia from: tagged me a couple weeks ago. Here are my answers:

Is your hair naturally curly or straight?

My hair is super straight. No curls, no waves nothing! I always wished for curly hair, or at least wished for kids with curly hair. Well that didn’t happen either. I once got a perm when I was 13, and I sat at the hair salon for 4 hours with 120 curlers in my hair, and after 2 weeks, my hair threw the whole perm out….

Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?

I always go to a salon. I am afraid if I did it myself I would screw it up 😦

Do you wear the same style everyday or do you change it.

Always the same. I am boring. I usually have my hair up, because this way the baby cannot pull it.

Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?

I always go to a salon to get a pedicure.

How often do you change your nail polish?

In the summer pretty often.

Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?

All year.

How long does it take for you to put on make up?

few minutes. But I don’t wear makeup that often.

What do you do first face or eye’s?

Do you collect make up or just buy what you need when you need it?

Since I don’t use much I only buy now and then

How often do you wear false eyelashes?

Do you do a full face of make up everyday?

Do you wear make up when your home alone or with family?

Will you leave the house without make up?

I shouldn’t, but sometimes I do.

How many high-end product’s do you own?<

I don’t even know what is conisdered high-end, but I guess I probably don’t own that many…

Do you plan your OOTD every night or when your getting dressed?

I check the weather forecast on internet and I decide after that, but usually in the morning.

How often do you change your handbag?

Whenever I feel like it.

What time do you wake up and go to sleep?

I usually go to sleep around midnight. I should go earlier, but that is my only “me” time, when everyone else is asleep, and I can finally hear my own thoughts πŸ™‚

I wake up when the baby wakes me up, so that is usually between 5-6 am. I miss my sleep.

Left handed or right handed?

How tall are you?

I am short. 160cm. I wish I were taller.

Do you speak any foreign languages?

My mother tongue is Hungarian. I speak English fluently. I also know German. I also took some Spanish while studying at the University, and I loved it, it would be great to continue to learn it πŸ™‚

How many pets do you have?

I don’t have a pet now, the children are enough for me to keep alive πŸ™‚

Before the kids I used to have a cat, a turtle, and hamsters. Not at the same time πŸ™‚

How do you blog?

I blog, when the baby is sleeping and I have an idea for a post.

Do you read comments posted on blogs?

I read all the comment I get, and I always answer them. I sometimes read the comments on other blogs too.

Do you keep a list of products as you see other posts?

I don’t keep a list, but if I see something I like, I keep it in mind πŸ™‚

How did you come up with your blog name?

The Blackberry Boys

Well, I have 2 kids, both boys, so the “boys” part comes from there. And The kids have their Daddy’s family name: which if you translate to English is Blackberry. Not a common name here. I have a different name, because I kept my Maiden name.

What’s your favorite color?

Grey, Blue, Turquise, Black.

Do you swear?

I shouldn’t, but sometimes I do, mostly while driving 😦

What are you doing with the rest of your day?

I will take Blackberry #1 to see an elementary school. They are having an open day.

Now my turn to tag. I decided not to tag anyone specific, but if anyone reading would like to join in, I would love to see your answers.

Hope you have enjoyed the Get-to-know-me-tag.

The Bear and Spring

(Photo from internet, since no bears were seen on our zoo adventure 😦

Groundhog Day is a day celebrated on February 2 in North America. According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, then spring will come early; if it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will continue for six more weeks.

Here in Hungary we have a similar weather lore, wherein a bear is the prognosticator as opposed to a groundhog.

If the bear comes out of his cave and the sun is shining and he sees his shadow, Then he goes back, and it will be a long winter. If it is cloudy and he comes out and doesn’t see his shadow then spring is just around the corner.

So last sunday we went to the zoo, to see the weather prediction by the bear, but the bear didn’t come out at all, at the gate they said they haven’t seen him in days…, so i have no idea what that means.Β  I hope it does not mean that there will be no spring at all 😦

We did see some other aminals:

The Siberian Tiger seemed in his element in all the snow πŸ™‚

White peacock. Beautiful πŸ™‚

This is my 51th post, meaning the last one was the 50th. Hurray! πŸ™‚

Do you have any weather lore in your country?

Winter Vacation 1

The Husband gave us a great gift this year. He took us to a 4 star hotel : Oxigen Hotel and Zen Spa ( for 4 nights. It is located in Northern Hungary in the mountains of Bukk, close to the city Eger, in Noszvaj village, in the woods πŸ™‚ Noszvaj is said to have the freshest air in the whole Country. The hotel has a Zen Spa, and it is also kid/baby friendly.

Blackberry #1 in the kid swimming pool.

In the jacuzzi.

Blackberry #2 first hated the Zen Spa, he cried when we put him in the pool 😦 So for most of our stay he stayed outside, dry.

Then one day twin baby girls arrived at the hotel and went swimming, and that is when he first found the pool an exciting place πŸ™‚ The power of women πŸ™‚

They had all kinds of programs for kids:

Kid sauna. Blackberry #1 was the only participant. Check out his attractive hostess πŸ™‚

They had 2 kid playhouses, one was in the restaurant. They also have az outside playground. They also had a puppet show one night for the kids. They also had plenty of programs for the adults. I took a yoga class πŸ™‚

The restaurant at breakfast.

We were there just before Christmas, so the decorations were wonderful.

We went on an excursion to Lillafured:

Blackberry #1 in front of the entrance of St. Stephen Cave.

The St. Stephen cave was discovered by a dog, who accidentially fell into a pit. He barked and howled for days until finally two young guys heard the sound. They followed the barks, found the pit, organized a rope and rescued the poor dog. So the cave was first called Kutya-barlang (Dog’s Cave). This story happened around 1900.

The cave is also interesting for its cave life. There are numerous bats, which use the cave to sleep or hibernate.Β

Lillafured also has a lovely waterfall, which was kind of frozen when we were there πŸ™‚
