Day 30: Today

Last day of the challenge.

BB#2 today. “Reading” one of his favorite books.

Today he learned a new word. He learned the name of the cartoon character Strawberry Shortcake, she is is called Eperke in hungarian. So today’s word is: Eperke. Yesterday he learned happy, in english 🙂

Day 29: Home

BB#2’s NICU discharge was a happy day 🙂

Words cannot describe how good it felt to have him home. 🙂

Also it was a little scary, not having a bunch of nurses and doctors around. I would always check if he was still breathing 😦

BB#1 meeting his little borther for the first time. Poor thing had to wait 2 months to see his brother, since no kids were allowed in the NICU.

Finally I could hold him whenever 🙂

I am so skinny here from stress 🙂

Wasn’t he so cute ?

Day 28: Going Home

BB# 2 got to come home from the NICU after 51 days on january 15th, 2013.

His empty incubator.

The nurse dressing him up for the january cold.

We didn’t have a preemie snow suit, so his snow suit was huge on him 🙂

Happy Birthday to you, Blackberry #2!

On tuesday, november 25th, BB#2 turned 2!

This year his birthday was more enjoyable for him and for me too. Last year he was too small to understand this whole birthday business and I was still very emotional from the memories of his early arrival and everything that came with that. This year I could mostly focus on the celebration of his birthday without the bad memories, I tried to keep busy that day so most of the flash backs did not happen.

BB#2 got a dog cake this year. He really likes dogs, so that is why he had a dog themed birthday.

He recognized the dog on the cake and said: vau-vau 🙂

He tried to blow out his candle:

and he ate 2 pieces of cake. Marzipan covered, chocolate-banana cake 🙂

He liked his presents: a fisher price remote control and a Lego duplo first garden:

I cannot believe my 1560 g (3.4 lbs), 40 cm (15.7 inch) preemie baby

Grew into a 11 kg 190g (24.6 lbs) toddler who is 85 cm (33.4 inch) tall 🙂

I wish someone would have shown me back then a photo of him today 🙂

Ten Thoughts Tuesday

1. Today BB#2 turns 2!

2. He was born 2 years ago at 30 weeks with 1560 g and 40 cm. Today he is 11190 g and 85 cm!

3. He had his yearly visit from a health visitor and she was satisfied with him.

4. BB#2 also got his shot against chicken pox last week. He will need one more of it in 2 months.

5. On Saturrday I took part in an another baby sale. There were not many buyers, I hardly made any money 😦 But I did sale 2 toys, a book and a mug. Probably the gas cost more to get there ….

6. On Sunday we already celebrated BB#2’s Birthday. He really enjoyed it this year. Post coming soon 🙂

7. Monday I had a parent-teacher meeting with BB#1’s teacher. She said good things about him. His only problem is that he talks too softly and he doesn’t have enough self esteem, so sometimes he gets scared and is afraid to answer the questions even if he knows the answer. I don’t really know how to help him 😦

8. I also went to the dentist yesterday. I have been having a tooth ache for weeks now. He did an x-ray. He messed up the first one so he had to do another one (wow thanks for the double dose of radiation!), than something also happened to the second one (the machine swallowed the film ????), finally he said he does not see anything wrong on the x-ray, he also does not see a cavity. So all he did was give me another appointment in 3 months time….. thanks for nothing….

9. Husband will go to a conference tomorrow, so I will be alone with the boys for 2 days.

10. Now all the birthdays are done, now I have to start getting ready for Christmas.

Prematurity Awareness Month 30 Day Photo Challenge, Day 19 and 22

Day 19: Wide awake

I have one photo for both days 🙂 He was about a month old when I could finally start seeing him awake 🙂

Day 22: No tubes or wires

BB#2 was about 5 weeks old when he was finally without tubes or wires. But sadly this state only lasted a few days when he got an infection and was again full of tubes and wires 😦 But after overcoming the infection he was finally tube and wire free for good 🙂
