Easter Cupcake Decorating Workshop

Last weekend I attended an easter cupcake decorating workshop.

I had to apply and pay the fee in advance. I also had to find a babysitter. When all that was done, I was finally heading to our local farmers market for a morning of fun πŸ™‚

First I bought some carrot cake and some professional cupcakes, incase my work would be so decorative.

We were making 3 cupcakes: a bunny, a lamb and a flower cupcake.

Here are the prototypes: (The flower was not finished…)

Happy Easter to everyone!

Easter

When I was small, my favorite holiday was Christmas. Since becoming an adult πŸ™‚ my favorite holiday has been easter. I love spring, and how Nature blooms and the weather gets warmer.

In Hungary, the day following Easter is called LocsolΓ³ HΓ©tfΕ‘, “Watering Monday“. Men usually visit families with girls and women. Water, perfume is sprinkled on the women and girls of the house by the visiting men, who are given in exchange an Easter egg.Β

Blackberry #1 watering his cousin πŸ™‚ The men always say a lovely poem first. They usually water on the hair, but you can always ask to get watered on your wrist, because imagine how stinky one’s hair will be by the end of the day, after being watered by all those different perfumes:)

And this is what “watering” used to look like in the olden days πŸ™‚ They used big buckets of cold water 😦

2013 in pictures

2013 was the year of the good, the bad and the ugly….

It was hard, it was sometimes scary and ofcourse there was lots of joy πŸ™‚

Blackberry #2 finally joined the family at home and I had to learn to be the Momma of 2 boys.

January

Jan.15th was the day, that after 51 days in the NICU, we got to bring Blackberry #2 home from the clinic. This was the day that Blackberry #1 got to meet his little brother for the first time! (no kids are allowed in the NICU).

Image

I didn’t think we would be home by that time, since the year started out bad, really bad. After doing really well, and having all his IV-s out, nothing sticking out of him, on january 1st Blackberry #2 caught some infection and became really ill, and I went in the clinic the first day of the year to find him with an IV in his head, and his leg and arm tied together so he wouldn’t yank it out. Everything started all over again, no milk, antibiotics, IVs, monitors etc….This is exactly why they call your stay at the NICU a rollercoaster. You have good days and then you have bad days and you never know what to expect. But luckily he was strong and became well again soon and was home by the middle of the month πŸ™‚

I hope we will have good health and less doctors appointments.

I hope to travel  abroad (the last time I left the country was in 2011 😦
