Moments of Nostalgia-Violin

I decided to take part in the Moments of Nostalgia Writing Challenge. Lana created this challenge, you can visit her blog here:

I started to play the violin when I was 8 years old. Here in Hungary you have to complete 2 years of “Music school” (where you learn the basics of music) before you can start to learn an instrument, so I started music school when I was 6. I loved the violin, I think it is a beautiful instrument. We moved to the USA when I was 10 and there I had Orchestra class everyday, 5 days a week. I would also practice 30-60 minutes every day at home after school. Playing the violin taught me the love of music, it also taught me diligence and how to be part of a team. I loved Orchestra, I loved being part of a team and the harmony the sounds from the different instruments made.I always played first violin. We played classical music (Bach was my all time favorite) and also some modern tunes (Like the Star Wars Theme Song) when we had recitals. When I was 13 we moved back to Hungary. There was no orchestra here, I could only take private lessons at the “Violin school”, which was boring and the teacher was stict. So after I finished 8th grade I gave up the violin 😦

But the 6 years while it was part of my life always brings back really nice memories 🙂

I hope at least one of my boys will some day learn an instrument, even if it is not the violin 🙂

Kukolina also took part in the challenge you can read her post here:

An old photo taken at a recital. I am the one with the blonde hair and blue eyes, I was 10 or 11 here.
